BATHROOM DESIGN IN FRESNO COUNTY

Your All-Important and Trusted ADA, FHA, and CA Title 24 Compliance Partner

As a California bathroom architect, plumber, installer, or contractor working in Fresno County, it’s critical that your business fully complies with state and federal laws and codes regarding bathroom accessibility. Failure to comply could involve steep fines and penalties and the eventual loss of your commercial license. So, what are these standards?

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), California Title 24, and the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) outline several accessibility standards, requirements, and guidelines that senior living architects and contractors in Fresno County must comply with.

EverFab is your trusted compliance partner for all three regulations governing our shower units. Our committed and dedicated team of engineers, designers, artisans, and tradesmen stand ready to help you with any compliance issues or questions you may have.

What is CA Title 24?

In 1978, the California Building Standards Commission launched California Building Code Title 24 as a means of improving energy efficiency and reducing excess waste during the construction of residential homes, dwellings, and commercial buildings. The code is enforced by the Office of Compliance Assistance and Enforcement. They regularly perform audits and inspections to ensure contractors are compliant with CA Title 24.

Residential and commercial contractors, installers, plumbers, architects, and senior living design firms must not only be compliant with Title 24 California but must also ensure part and material traceability for any installation. As a manufacturer of a comprehensive line of fiberglass showers, EverFab labels all our materials, parts, and finished shower units as compliant with Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations.

By identifying all our shower units as CA Title 24-compliant, EverFab helps save contractors, architects, installers, and senior living designers a tremendous amount of time and money.

Our fiberglass shower units share the following features:

  • EverFab’s signature bottom plate
  • Anti-slip floor design
  • Built-in reinforcement with a 30-year limited warranty

CA Title 24 and EverFab’s Fiberglass Shower Units

CA Title 24 states that showers can be compliant if they are either a single part/piece or include multiple parts/pieces. Newly installed showers must respect CA Title 24 in terms of maximum curb and slope in addition to minimum interior dimensions.

Once installed, shower units must be easily accessible for seniors and individuals with disabilities. EverFab allows for easy installation as our shower units can be installed directly onto the subfloor without the need for a recessed floor.

The High Costs of Non-Compliance

Again, non-compliance with ADA, FHA, or CA Title 24 codes and guidelines can result in serious fines and the eventual loss of your business’s commercial license. FHA fines can range from $11,000 to $27,500 with higher fines for multiple offenses. ADA fines for non-compliance start at $75,000 with the second offense doubling to $150,000.

California is a progressive state that enforces ADA more strictly than other states. In addition, California has its own set of building codes as defined by CA Title 24. The California Commission on Disability Access (CDDA) proactively monitors and enforces contractors to respect and adhere to established codes for accessibility.

With close to eight million in California meeting the ADA criteria for being disabled, it’s critical that your Fresno County business be ADA, FHA, and CA Title 24 compliant.

If you’re not yet convinced, here are some statistics concerning non-compliance with the ADA.
