For a roll-in shower stall to be ADA compliant, it needs to come equipped with a built-in shower seat and grab bar(s). These accessories are necessary installations for every ADA compliant roll-in shower and have to be strength-tested to ensure they meet the requirements set forth by the ADA. 

• ADA compliant shower seat requirements dictate that every seat must hold at least 250 pounds of weight.
• ADA compliant grab bars have to support at least 250 pounds of pressure. 

Strength-Tested Durability

It’s important that the roll-in showers for wheelchairs you use in your bathroom design are outfitted with the right durability and strength. Far too often, traditional showers can be prone to cracks or chips that compromise their structural integrity. This is caused by the significant amount of calcium sulfate used in shower construction, which causes the unit to be heavier and, inadvertently, more prone to damage.
